Even though it is hot in the summer, is it still a good time to play golf?
Yes. The tee sheet starts at 6:30 AM throughout the summer. At that time of the day, the weather is very pleasant and will usually allow you to complete your round without breaking a sweat. In order to stay cool later on in the day, drink plenty of water, wear light colored clothing. Also limit the intake of alcoholic beverages. The dry heat produces a more comfortable golfing experience.

Can I go in the rough and look for my ball?
Of course you can. Please be aware of pointy plants, loose rocks and the occasional rattlesnake! As a general rule, if your ball is not in plain sight, you probably won't be able to get a club on it. So, unless you are playing a heated match, take a quick glance and drop another ball. This will speed up play and make your round more enjoyable.
How does the course hold up in the summer?
MSLDSF is in great shape all throughout the year, however we do go through a transition period from April through June. You may see some areas that are not as green as others, but the golf course plays very well. And compared with the rest of the golf courses in northern New Mexico, we are still in the best shape during summer. .
How long does it take for the greens to return to normal after aeration?
Aerated greens usually take 2 weeks to return to normal. This time line can be affected by the weather. Please be sure to ask the golf shop staff if your play is scheduled after aeration.
