Maintaining a golf course is a tremendous job, one that requires a large amount and variety of equipment, and a staff who is dedicated to using that equipment to prepare our course into the best condition possible. We are fortunate at Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe (MSLDSF) to have a great golf course maintenance crew, that does a wonderful job with the equipment we are able to provide them.
John Allen
	Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe (MSL) would like to welcome Mr. John Allen who has returned to the golf course as the Golf Course Superintendent. John will be replacing retired Superintendent Eric Sandoval (who retired in July). John began his Superintendent career in 1990 at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) Golf Course in Las Vegas, NM. In 1997 he became the Assistant Superintendent for MSL and became our Superintendent in 2001 until 2004 when he was offered a position as the Superintendent of Pendaries Golf Course in Rosiada, NM. John brings with him experience and extensive knowledge in turf management and golf course operations. He is a Class A member of RGGCSA and is a certified irrigation and pesticide applicator. He is ready to take MSL to the next level creating an even better golf experience for all patrons who play Santa Fe’s Golf Course of CHOICE!
Interview with John Allen: Who or what inspired you to become a Golf Course Superintendent? “I was inspired by Gene Torres to become a Golf Course Superintendent and I have always been inspired by any golf course in excellent condition and the processes involved in the design and grooming of a golf course.” Do you play golf? If so, where did you learn? “Yes, I play golf and learned to play at NMHU Golf Course. I played golf at NMHU under the instruction of Gene Torres from 1978-1981.” Advise for golfing MSL “Play the tees that best suit your skill level or handicap. Take your time reading the greens and most of all have fun!” Family/education/hobby interests “I have one son named Michael who is the Golf Course Superintendent for NMHU Golf Course.” Favorite place to golf “My favorite place to play truly is Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe.” Favorite golf quote or golf words of wisdom “The game of golf cannot be either won or lost, it can only be played. So enjoy it!”
